RE:             2010 Lit Fest

To date, only 11 of our county’s 34 schools have indicated an Intent to Participate in the 2010 Tehama County Literacy Festival.

The decision has been made to cancel Lit Fest 2010.  The numbers to date and the tough budgetary climate we are in, coupled with Lit Fest Director Maureen Lasley’s decision to pursue retirement, contributed to this decision.

Schools that indicated on the Intent to Participate form that they would like an Author Visit will be contacted.  If enough schools wish to participate, we will move forward with the Author Visits as planned.

Please know that the Tehama County Reading Council will continue to hold its Writing Celebration in May.  The Celebration provides an audience for young authors in grades kindergarten through high school.  Student work that was initially going to be submitted to the Lit Fest may be submitted to the Writing Celebration.  Information on the Writing Celebration will be sent to schools this month.
